Would a Devil Scorpion make a good beginner scorpion? I going to get my first scorpion in about a week maybe and wanted to know if it would be good for a first scorpion besides an emperor or flat rock.
By devil scorpion I hope you mean Vaejovis spinigerus. Tityus species have also been called devil scorpions, but it's not as common. A Vaejovis spinigerus would make a good first scorp, easy to care for and active and nasty as hell. The venom is rumored to be painful, but nowhere near life threatening, probably as potent as a deser hairy. I have an adult V. spinigerus I caught myself in Arizona and I love the little bugger. They stay small though, only about 2 inches, so if you're looking for a big scorp, this might not be the one for you. Other than that, they're great little buggers.
Yes I was referring to a V.Spinigerus. Ive heard they are the most active scorpion which I like. I don't really care how big it gets. I will try to get one. If not, Im probaly stuck with an emp, flat rock, or asian forest. which are all fine. Thanks for the reply.
Theres a $40 minium before shipping. I was thinking about getting one from http://www.strangecargoinvertebrates.com $9 for the scorp and $20 live arrival garuntee shipping.
I think V.Spinigerus would make a good first scorp. I have 5 living togather ranging from 1"+ -2". They are very active but I don't find them aggressive just very skittish. I would check the classifieds on this site for some. I bought mine from a guy on here for $5 each. If you Pm me I'll give you his name. I would also recommend C.Vitattus, they are communal, cheap, small, attractive & hardy. You can usually find these for $5 to, I'd do some looking around for the best price.
