My DH has been tunneling in his new enclosure, which i know is normal. My question is this, he has tunneled through about 5" of a sand/excavator clay mix and has gone all the way to the bottom of the tank. He has back-filled the entire tunnel structure that he has made with the loose sand mixture and now has basically made no outlet to come to the surface. He has been like this for a little over a week. Is this normal behavior or do I help dig the little guy out? Do I just let him figure it out on his own or is he possibly looking to molt? Thanks in advance!

What was the approximate sand to clay ratio? I think that scorpions know where the surface is, and they could probably go back up.

i used 70%sand-30%clay mixture. It holds tunnels very well. the stuff he is back-filling with is the stuff he has dug up.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes they seal off for weeks or months. As long as he is able to tunnel through it he'll dig out when he's ready.

That behavior is completely normal. Just leave him/her alone :)
