Hi all! I've had my Desert Hairy since August, and it seems to be thriving. Avid digger, eating regularly, etc. However, I just purchased a humidity reader at the pet store, and was shocked to see it climbed up to 70. The substrate is calcium sand and creature soil (mostly balanced toward sand). The temperature is around 80 degrees. I'm at a loss. How do I bring down the humidity and keep my little guy safe?

If you're not adding moisture to the enclosure in the form of water in the substrate, misting, or a large water dish, then the higher humidity is just ambient - meaning there is moisture in the air in your home. There are dehumidifiers available that will pull moisture out of the air, but honestly, if your scorpion is behaving normally, the temperature is appropriate, and the enclosure is adequately ventilated, then you don't really need to worry about it.

A little research shows that average humidity in the natural range of this species is likely higher than you think... 😉

If it's an analog hygrometer, it's unreliable anyway. The digital ones are usually fairly good. But I agree, I never measure the humidity, I just go by moisture level of the substrate.
