Re: Lamps+Ts=Bad
Ed
I keep my t's and other inverts in a room with reptiles.....the inverts get no heat or light other than the ambient heat and light from all the reptile basking lights, fluorescent lights, and undertank heaters. it got up to 97 this spring in that room for 12 or more hours, I lost no inverts or reptiles due to this heat as everyone was well hydrated due to all of them having full water dishes. as a matter of fact the high temp may have been the trigger to cause a gravid h. spadix female to have her babies shortly after. temps regularly get to the low 90's in the room in the summer.Originally posted by Rookie
I know lamps are bad for Ts, I was just curious as to why they are bad. Both lamps and heat pads would rob the Ts enclosure of some moisture, and yet pads are acceptable. I was wondering why this is. However, Kelly, you are probably right: light would probably be the most obvious answer for not using lamps. No nocturnal creature would appreciate one.
