Is dechlorinated water necessary for tarantulas?

I have been giving all of my T's tap water and I have had no ill effects from it.

Idk particularly, but i also keep a lot of fish and i believe you are better safe than sorry. someone may correct me though and say its perfectly fine. I just tend to take it out of the fish tanks cause then i know its aged and free of toxins. I know for a fact aged water cant hurt, but idk if fresh tap can hurt, so i always go with what I'm sure of.

There was a thread on this a while back.

The general consesus was that no, it is not necessary. If you can drink it, then your Ts should be fine.

Stan Schultz weighed in (which isn't super common) and stated something to the effect that people waste a lot of money on things like de-chlorinators and whatnot that their Ts don't need. I'm not quoting, but paraphrasing what I recall. If I am incorrect in my recollection, please correct me. I know that I used to use dechlorinator, and I don't anymore. The Ts are fine. So is my salamander. If the amphibian is alright, then the Ts sure oughta be.

The only bad thing i know of related to dissolved salts in water you mist your tarantula with is that they precipitate onto the glass, thus making it hard to clearly see your Ts after several months.

I fill my spray bottle with tap water that I have let sit out for a few days. Not sure if it has any benefit but I do it anyway. I have forgot to fill my sitting container and used fresh tap water also.

I do the same. chlorine will evaporate from the source water overnight if left in an open container. simple, inexpensive de-chlorination...

Use bottled water. Even when spraying it on the glass, when it evaporates, it leaves no marks. I only use bottled water. I never use Distilled water as this has no minerals at all and feel it would be bad for the T in the long run.
I never use Tap.

I've seen mine drink fresh tap water and suffer no bad consequences, and I have every since I got into tarantulas more than a year ago. I'd say tap water is fine.

that's not from chlorine, its from dissolved solids in the water, simple dechlorination will not remedy that.

Chlorine in water is generally in one of 2 forms. 1 free chlorine, free chlorine is more aggressive but dissipates easily. 2 chloramines, aka combined chlorine, this type is less aggressive but stays around a long time, much harder to get rid of. IF you want to remove ONLY chlorine from water, a simple carbon tank will work. just don't over flow it.

as to if chlorine will harm Ts i think it depends on how much you have at your tap.

as far as minerals in water. i don't think that anyone can say for sure if totally demineralized water is going to harm the bugs or you for that matter ...I don't drink it because it taste bad. lol
