Just wondering, since I've been doing it, do tarantulas actually need the chlorine removed from the water I give them?

Nope..95% of the time, I fill a few 1 gallon milk jugs with water and let them sit uncovered for a few days before watering my Ts.. Sometimes I'm too busy, lazy, or forgetfull to refill the jugs, so I just use water straight from the tap and I haven't had any problems..

cool, I was just filling a cup and using prime in it, since I don't have many Ts

I usually have a few gallons of distilled water sitting around because I use it to mist my critters without calcium build up. I've never had a problem giving it to my animals

I do as you do. I know a breeder that swears by distilled water, but in point of fact the breeder admitted he has no real data to support one over the other.

Now, re chlorine, 24 hr uncovered is fine. However, in public water there is something that us reptile owners are concerned about, and that is getting rid of chloramine that is added. That doesn't go away by leaving water overnight.

I've seen a lot of water reptile owners switch to bottled water as a caution.

I do distilled out of convenience, $1 a gallon at my local store. The majority of my animals are snakes so for me it's the safest and easiest way to mist them and provide water.
I had once heard a bizzare argument that distilled was dangerous for animals but I have also yet to see that evidence.

I guess the process of distilling water also makes it the safest as it's totally pure without any additives. There is my final pitch for distilled.

My vote goes for distilled, partially because it's pure and also it doesn't leave any pain in the butt water spots lol.
