I'm thinking about expanding my isopod collection and acquiring some duckies. I'm aware that many isopod species and have specific care requirements, but I've never kept anything in the genus Cubaris before. Can anyone with experience recommend certain foods, setups, and ventilation for me? Thank you.

They require very little ventilation, you can use a shoebox with no added holes. They are easier than almost any other isopod but if you keep them like the giant Porcellio species they might do poorly. The reason they're still so expensive is they are in demand and they don't breed in huge quantities or very quickly.

Thank you, do you know any foods they particularly like? Or do they prefer to consume decayed wood/leaves?

I have heard, aside from all the regular isopod fare, they greatly appreciate live moss and some fungi. I have observed first-hand with a related species (C. sp. "Red Tigers") that moss will be eaten quickly and in quantity if provided.

Thanks,

What type of moss specifically did you provide the red tigers? And when you said they fed on fungi, did you mean mold or did you provide them with mushrooms?
