One of the most important (after any cobras and vipers of course) would be Androctonus australis often known as the Tunisian Fat Tail Scorpion. Be very careful flipping rocks and such looking for critters.....
Other scorpions would be Hottentotta spp., Buthus occitanus, and I'm sure many others.

You may want to buy a snake hook and some tongs as well. Out in the country, away from any medical staff in an area known for a very dense population of horned vipers, you wouldn't see me using the old hands to flip rocks. I think a will and a DNR order may be suitable as well {D

May I ask how you intend to bring them back to Long Island?

Or are you just collecting?

I went there once...but wasn't as interested in wildlife yet, which is a shame.

Have fun man!

well ive done stuff like that numerous times
i just put it in deli cups and put it in my luggage and bring them back after all im planning on taking dead specimens

another way that is good is putting them in film cases works nicely.

u could also hide them in smelly old diry underwear and they wouldn't go looking there
