It was feeding time for my tarantula, I went outside to my cricket colony and collected two in a small jar with a window screen for ventilation.

Passing the bathroom my sister had used it and it stunk BADLY so I used Air Freshener without even thinking about it.

Put the crickets in the tarantula's container and began noticing obsessive cleaning behavior, acting normal otherwise it's just every few steps they scratch themselves with their back legs and groom themselves excessively or it seems so.

Is it normal, am I being paranoid? Could it be the air freshener bothering them? The substrate maybe? Tarantula hairs? So far Eragado seems more interested in escaping than eating but then the crickets haven't passed in front of him/her yet. Should I get them out of there before Eragado eats them?

Just a little curious and concerned is all, thanks for the time!

Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe and maybe. Bottom line, you can't be sure so take them out. I'm sure you've realised, but it's not good to spray chemicals around WHILE you're holding feeder insects, AND about to interact with your T.

It was a stupid move, I know. Alright, thanks! Be right back, hopefully my tarantula will be in a lazy mood. Thank goodness the bathroom's downstairs so as long as I remove the crickets it won't affect my tarantula...

Update: She/he was very good about the whole thing, I caught one cricket...lost the other in my bedroom. Hopefully it won't make noise tonight....do store bought crickets chirp? The family will kill me if it does... x.x

Alright, at least my tarantula is safe now :)

Yes they do chirp (well the adult males do).

if you want i can try to figure out what the spray would/could do

what kind of spray was it, exactly?

company, brand, flavor, it is odor neutralizing

it wouldn't be an exact answer cuz dosage is unknown but it might sort of vaguely define the realm of possibilities if i get lucky or be a waste of time if i get unlucky =P

i like the chirping =P

I like the chirping too :) I've found that black crickets do it a lot more than my brown ones. Does make my balcony sound very atmospheric at night too :)

Re the OP, taking them out was probably the best move, rather be safe than sorry
