Cricket torture

I was curious if anyone else had noticed strange "feeding" behaviors with their scorpions. I've had at least a dozen emperors, and most of them killed only to eat. This was not the case with gaz. Every cricket i gave her would meet a new and interesting fate. Occassionally she would just pick the legs off one by one and then leave the cricket to die. Once she picked up a cricket, delibrately impailed it on her claw, and ran around with it for awhile like it was a hand puppet. Just curious if there is some reason for this or if some scorps are just sadistic.

This is also the same scorp that once put about ten crickets in her mouth at one time.. (usually I only gave her a few at a time.. i just really wanted to see what she would do with them)

Maybe she was looking for a good spot to eat it. And my emp eats the abdoman on crickets and leaves the rest of it to die. ;P

My emperor eats crickets with their head sticking out and the antennae is still moving, it looks funny, but after a few minutes the whole thing gets devoured.

i feed my emps something different fot a "treat" about once a month. anoles were on for last weeks menu and let me tell you it was brutal. my female started TAIL first. actuall i should say vent first cuz she snipped that bad boy off with a fury. anyway that poor anole. after writhing for 5 minutes in her grasp, getting his ass gnawed on, i decided to break his neck. lesson learned. pre kill anoles before offering to the beasts.

The way I look at it, you should feed them everything live, and if you can't watch it eat an anole, leave .
Once my Emperor gets bigger I intend to feed it a pinky mouse to see what it's like.

The pinky mouse I fed my Androctonus australis squeeked and writhed in pain for several minutes after being stung, then it went into convulsians and eventually died. My A.a. must have injected most of the venom it had available as its sting was inserted for a good minute and a half total. I'm not sure how an emp would go about killing a pinky, or if it would even bother killing it prior to eating it.

Emperors don't kill it first.. they hold it still with their claws and eat it until it dies of shock.

That's how my old Pandinus cavimanus used to eat, so I figured it would probably be the same way with emps.
