Damn I'd be mad too. You kinda got scammed đź’€
I once got a cork hide covered in mold along with a sick Stirmi with w cyst, I cleaned the hide and still use it, but couldn’t save the spider. Some times you get ripped off !!! Why would someone be so lazy they won’t clean a hide ??? A sick t should never been sold either.

Apart from the whole sap issue, those types are also not all that helpful as hides to begin with, they’re far larger than they need to be. I’d definitely just use a piece of cork partially/mostly buried in the substrate with a small opening for them to use. They like small/dark places to hide not wide open places.

Welp I might just do this. I'm kinda mad, they literally advertised it as a hide for spiders. I think these are the same hides they put in the spider tanks at the store too
i would be angry too.

this is false advertisement.

anything with resin pockets, its probably an evergreen. Which can potentialy be toxic.

the sap is the worst part: its antibacterial, insecticidal, antifungal… and so much more.

If you can't find cork bark a hide can also be made from a plastic fountain drink cup; just wash it out and cut it in half.
