Hi All!!
Wanted to share some photos of some Glass lanterns that I converted into enclosures today. Picked these up for $7 each and spent probably spent total $5 on acrylic. I swapped out the glass panel on the doors and put in acrylic and then cut a piece to go over the naturally open top. then burnt in ventilation holes on the doors and tops for airflow. Going to decorate them later but these will become a set of display enclosures in my living room.

Comment and let me know which of the three you like the most.

Wow. That's so creative! I can't wait to see the finished products.
Thanks so much!! It’ll be awhile before I have any tarantulas in them but I thought they’d be perfect when I saw them in the store!

What style do you think looks the best?
Hmmmm.... I don't know. I think the 3rd. The top one is really pretty, but kinda dark/view obstructed for me, but that could just be the picture. The middle one I'm having trouble picturing the end product. I like all of them though. I bet they look really cool and unique in person.

These are cool, I always see these at those cheap stores and think they would be awesome.
Only downside imho is visibility can be a bit obscured.
I like them all but the last one would be my preference, thanks for sharing this.

Yeah I agree that is a slight downside with it not being 100% unobstructed view.
Thanks for your response! They were run to retrofit!

I've thought about doing this too but all the lanterns I've found are too gappy around the doors to work well for my amblypygi, so they'd need a lot of modification. Aesthetically I like the first one best, but the second one would probably be easier to see your critters. Let us know how they like these!

The second one has barely any gaps but the third has the largest gaps, I’m working on customizing it to make less of a gap. The first and second might work for your amblypygi but the third definitely not the way it stands now.
