So my little Scream is growing quite fast. So I am planning a new enclosure. It’s an experimental enclosure but I am very confident in it working out perfectly

This is the design so far. It’s going to be assembled with wood picture frames and screws. My main hobby is aquariums so I also have the supplies to make it water tight and seal the wood. The frames I ordered is plexiglass so vent holes will be easy to make. I ordered 18 x 24 frames so I have plenty of room for a substrate level for the tarantula to dig if it wants to and to also provide some silk plants for hiding and anchor points. I’m going to use jewelry box hardware for the hinges and locking mechanics. As there are small hands in my house all enclosures have to be padlocked.

is there any other suggestions that any of you can make? I’m confident in the sturdiness of it if I assemble it right. But more suggestions are always welcomed.

Make sure you add ventilation on top and right above the substrate level. Make sure you make the wood waterproof, as ir will absorb any moisture leak.

Coming from the aquariun world why you didn't choose an old aquariun and mod it? You only need to remove a lateral panel (you can use it like a main door) and to bond few more panels.

Then flip the tank and glue two glass panels on top with a perforated gille in between and another two at the front (down low) with another grille in between, then lastly some acrylic hinges to hold the panel that you removed before, or you can use some vertical guides and use the glass like a guillotine stile enclosure.

I didn’t have any spare aquariums large enough and while aquariums are my main hobby. I don’t have the skill to working with glass in that manner to make the proper ventilation. Chances are I would have shattered it before managing to successfully convert it over. This design also allows me something a little more light weight to move when needed.
And I did explore my options before settling here. From already made terrariums. To aquarium conversions. And so on. Nothing I looked at satisfied me. So this is where it ended up

Making a terrarium from picture frames. That's a clever idea. I'd like to make one out of glass panels someday, using stained glass techniques. I'd either take the Wardian case approach or use irregular geometric shapes. The ready-made one's I see online are too expensive.

N op I would make some sort of top opening I have always found having the option of being above my Psalmopoeus a valuable thing, they like todo laps sometimes if caught off guard and a front opening makes that round n out not just round till they stop panicking n find their burrow/web hide.
They aren't always a brave spood 😆.

Life is short, I have more important things to do than make boxes. I always travel to remote locations to shoot the rarest animals on the planet.

Did you change your avatar? I love that green color!!

I think it'll work nice with proper ventilation, sounds like you have all of the basics ready. Post some pics when it's all said and done!

P. cambridei Penthouse Under Construction.
Gotta like the Ingenuity and DIY Ambition. :smirk:
Suggest Cross Ventilation and Waterproofing be considered.
Take it easy and enjoy the build.

All I watch is nature shows with a few streaming shows. Yes I remember quite well you had me in tweed 🤮🤣🙄

In point of fact I didn’t know you were incredibly curious. I only know you’re a good poster.

There’s nothing more fascinating than nature!!

It's OK now in my head you wear combats not tweed 😆.

Always curious, about everything 😉. I like to learn, especially when it comes to animals 😊, or in this case an interesting person 😁.

No there isn't! It's my favourite place to be and my favourite thing to learn about 😊.
