Coco Liner safe for inverts?

Hi, its me again. After a huge success in my tank and my millipedes breeding like crazy, I have decided to convert another tank for the babies. I want to use coco liner (usually used for hanging baskets) to line the back landscaping as I will then be growing moss on it between plants. I hopefully would also like to use it between the drainage layer and substrate. The problem is that I can not seem to find any info anywhere that it does not contain pesticides or that it would be safe for inverts. Even the ones labelled as reptile carpet do not state safe for inverts. Does anyone know or has anyone had any experience in using coco liners as decor in a tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These are good since you will know they haven't come into contact with any pesticides being in a gardening store. Coconut liner is going to be perfectly safe for them since they are manufactured solely from coconut coir and are intended to be biodegradable (that means no additives to stop them from decaying.) If it worries you at all use these since they are intended for use with amphibians too so there is no chance they have anything added to them. The contains latex is due to the packaging by the way.

When they ship coir, by the hundreds of tons, they do whatever it takes pesticide wise to pass through ports of entry. When they process the stuff they may be particular and careful using non toxic glue, or they may go the very common route using urea-formaldehyde glue which is the cheap common bonding agent used in particle board and is pest resistant since it is toxic, a carcinogen, and a noxious irritant.

Note, two MSDS, one for the base chemical, one for the common usage as a wood bonding agent.

I wouldn’t use it as a drainage separator since it is organic material that can break up over tune. Window screen is a better option.

Do you plan to glue it flat to the back? I don’t know about millipedes, but I had a coco fiber liner in the back of a bioactive enclosure and a ton of isopods would get stuck behind it and die. They’d climb up to the very top behind it, too.

Coco matting and Coco basket liner are two completely different things.
Coco matting is what's used in the hobby.
Coco hanging basket liner is formed into various shapes using a glue, or latex.
