Despite their government tyrannical rein on their populace. I'm sure they also have such pests in cities ornwarmer southern regions. And probably have people that don't really want to blanket murder everything, just rid their homes of the roaches. Same with people in Europe, USA or anywhere. Same for rodents, mosquitoes and other "pests" they get a bit over zealous.

It's way too easy to blanket label things, or people. The individuals get discounted. Thinking of the stories my mom related from her years in Shanghai before and during WW II. Simple endearing acts of individuals: Mom going through the market followed by her dog who insisted on carrying her shopping basket. The people selling their goods smiling upon seeing the duo, giving kind reassuring words to her and knowing the drill placed what she bought in the basket. A disheveled stranger interfering with what was probably an attempted kidnapping then him and a gang of toughs escorting her out of that particular area.
Random acts of kindness a universal equalizer

Wow before and during WW II ? That was 80 years ago if Germany wasn’t such a bad military the world might had crumbled to them . Was Shanghai a third world country back then??

That question could easily take weeks to answer. A naive young woman and her mother, Swedish upper crust aristocracy, plunged into the world of Shanghai at that time. What was Shanghai like? From the reams she wrote of her experiences viewed objectively, that city at that time is indescribable. Then the Japanese occupation exponentially complicating life there. From the rose colored glasses of the elite Swedish compounds to the ultimate third world primitive and everything in between.

A vivid picture she painted in words. Taking a walk on the average day. Rich locals zooming past in the latest modern cars, beggars picking up a few coins helping farmers push overloaded carts through the streets and everywhere, Japanese soldiers, firearm at the ready and a highly trained attack dog at his side.
A filthy man in rags just outside the local market holding up a barbecued dog by a leg, selling parts of it. Is that third world?

Germany's military outclassed all others in the world at that time. What defeated them was things degenerated into a war of attrition with dwindling resources in every aspect going up against the almost unlimited resources of the opposition. Without being able to pull some supermagical rabbits out of a hat they were sooner or later doomed.
The stupidest move they made was invading Russia. Little resources to be gained, a far too large a front demanding resources and person power they eventually ran out of, and a vast population of new enemies with their backs against the wall and nothing to lose. You don't want to go up against Russia when it boils down to urban guerilla warfare on their own turf. Stalingrad was Adolf's Waterloo.

Shanghai isn't a country ;)

Aside from. China being a pretty tyrannical nation in terms of government, "leadership", and expansionism. There are no questions many individuals are great people. All the more reason to have empathy and sympathy for the Chiense people, they don't get to choose their oppressor.

But it's not a political discussion either. It's about the ethics of killing invasive species that cause hygiene issues within households and how to control them.

No one is talking of using boric acid to get rid of the Chinese that have invaded and killed off so many in say Tibet, xinjiang or that are pestering other places like Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, India, basically all of Asia, Africa, Oceania, South America etc. lol.
