Lifespans?Steatoda triangulosa.
Actually** most cobweb spiders do not live over 2 years. Steatoda grossa is an exception to this rule. In general the genres of Steatoda & Latrodectus have the capability to live 3-4 years however they seldom do. S. grossa has been recorded up to 6 years and is the longest living cobweb spider.Actually, like many theridiids, they can live quite long.
S. grossa can live to be over 5 years, i know this for sure, because one in my room had the same corner to web in year after year, until she mated, then she died soon after, which was a few months after her 5th year.
She was HUGE, too! Before i knew of this specimen, i thought they didn't get all that large.
