Can anyone tell me what classification or type(ex. type I, II, or III, etc.) of urticating hairs the aphonopelma sp. possess? How many types or classification of urticating hairs are there? Which NW species possess which types? Just curious. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I've read over that before, but it doesn't mention aphonopelma specifically so that's why I've searched elsewhere. I know they are considered part of the theraphosinae subfamily listed at that link??? If that's the case then wouldn't they have type III??? I have absolutely no clue! So you do think type I is the classification for them, hmmmm wonder why their hairs are so mild compared to the others? Weird.

Ive searched about on the issue previously, I spoke to someone I know who is very knowledgeable on things like this and apparently when Aphonopelma paloma was keyed out in 1992 the type I urticating hair was used as a factor. As for the reasons why they are more mild than other urticating hairs could probably due to the structure of them.
