clarification on "instar"

So if you use that terminology which one of those stages is the feeding stage? 1st instar?
Ugg I surrender. As along as everyone knows when to start feeding their little ones I am happy. :}
The typical answer to that question if using this system would be 2nd instar. However, 1st instars and even postembryos may be feeding on siblings and/or undeveloped eggs.

One thing the "European" system can take into account is the extra developmental stage in some species.

Oh I agree 100% I have seen sibblings roll over and suck dry an undevloped egg at postembryo stage with Smithi, Regalis, Vagans. All of them do it I am sure, it just goes largely unseen because of how long they are in the sac.
