I did a search for this topic but came with zip. It is common knowledge that Pine trees have a natural insecticide, but to what extent? If I were to place a six foot Christmas tree ("holiday tree" to be strictly PC) in a 15' x 20' room that also contained tarantulas in vivariums, what, if any would be the effect?

PS, last time we put up a tree it was artificial.

You should be perfectly fine. We had a real Christmas tree last year, and there were a few spiders living on it when we brought it home. I think the unpleasant properties of evergreens are contained within the sap and oils, and are not particularly dangerous in whole-tree form.

i wouldn't see the problem I would just wash your hands throughly after touching the xmas tree, before doing anything with the T's.
