Chilobrachys sp. Electric blue

Hi everyone,

I have a Chilobrachys sp. Electric Blue, I got it back in November as a juvi and it has molted once since then, however I’m not sure on the sex, if I can actually be sexed at this size, hasn’t eaten since December, will post some photos

I guess male. But your T. needs a new enclosure for certain. Your current enclosure is not ideal at all. There are a lot of red flags. Too little substrate, too big of an enclosure, and way, WAY, too much height, which can pose a fall hazard. These guys love to burrow and create burrows. Judging by how it has a climbing tendency in this picture, it is not close to an ideal home for your guy. If he was happy, he would've been burrowing or at least be in one.

I’m hoping it’s not a male, update on the enclosure, this photo was taken wayyyy back in December, it since then has been changed and the substrate is a lot deeper

That's good to hear. But why worry that's a male?? Males are highly desired in the hobby, especially for these guys. Why not just do a loan if it turns out to be a male? That way you can at least have some slings back in return.

That is a very good point, I never thought about that, i mean I like both males and females but tend to go for females as they live longer but I have a few males

I've expanded my collection with males far more than I have with females.

It takes 2 to produce slings.

The good part of getting a male is you now know it won't be around for too long, be it through sale/breeding or natural death if you keep it. Which means you have to start planning for your next T
