John Hoke's pricelist was just e-mailed to me and i found out this! All you poke lovers get ready!!!1

Poecilotheria metallica ³Metallic Ornamental², CB¹03, 1/2²-3/4², (A/F/A/V),
HOT! HOT! HOT! THE MOST COLORFUL TARANTULA IN THE WORLD! This species is
probably the most awaited for, desired, anticipated, wanted, in high-demand
in our hobby¹s history! Incredible metallic blue overall! This is a real
collector¹s species. Anticipated date of availability: end of March or early
April Œ03. Price: will not be set until imported, (but it will mostly likely
be similiar or higher than P. miranda). Taking adanced reservations now.
Taking 50% deposits mid-March¹03 in the form of postal money orders.

I would not spend that much money on any spider, especially with such a high probablity of captive-born specimens, no breeding oppurtunities, and chance of sling death.

Lets wait and see if it will be established here. no spider imho can live up to a hype like that.

I will most likely buy one. I know it is a lot of money, but I blow that much on other things. Even if I get a male It will still live for years, so I'm not to worried. the only thing that will suck is if it dies as a sling, but it is a gamble I am willing to take.

How bad would it suck if males were plain brown, and we paid $200+ for it.

hmm wheres that based at?

i shan't be jumpin on the band wagon to buy one

how much is a p.miranda anyway?

watch everyone buy them now, then within a year they will be so popular the surplus will drive them down to cheap prices in the same way the A.Geniculata has gone :p also they may be inbred if everyone buys from this one guy :p

anyway im fine with my regalis

Art Cerda's selling them too, basically the same deal.

SORRY MY MISTAKE--I read "miranda" but was thinking "metallica", I apologize, Art Cerda does not have those on his current price list!--EDITING COMPLETE!

I think they're gorgeous, but I have a personal rule about not spending more than $25 on a spider.....and the two pokies I have intimidate me quite enough without my getting more.

I WILL want to see pics when other people get the metallicas, though....

Hey James.. you sure that was from Hoke? Looks exactly like the mail I got from Gearhart today...

I'm not too excited about the whole metallica thing. They are cool, for sure, but.. like miranda, I'm not prepared to pay that kind of money for one.

I second that.

I think miranda looks nicer anyways.

How much DO P. mirandas go for, anyway? I'm clueless.

-Bryan

edit: I just looked on Swift's page. YIKES! I was thinking of getting one of the P. metallicas, since I love blue tarantulas; but after seeing that price I'm sure that I'll have to pass.

IMO, this is the prettiest tarantula that there is and I would gladly shell out the money for one if:

1 - I had that much money just burning a hole in my pocket.

2 - I got a guaranteed female.

3 - I could buy an insurance policy on the spider incase of premature death.

4 - I could be guaranteed that it would never ever bite me or anyone else, as I don't like the idea of being brought within an inch of my life or being made to feel like that is what is happening.

P. Miranda was going for $150 for a sling.

I love the look of both of them. P. Miranda and P. Metallica. I'm just so broke!

(P. Miranda is my favorite of the bunch just because it's so unique in color. P. Metallica is just pretty...Unique in it's metallic blue sheen, but nearly on the level of the Miranda.)

**Edit: Swift's P. Mirandas go for $165, but are CB (I think, they don't have WC by them.) . I could *SWEAR* Todd's were WC, so $15 more doesn't seem so bad, although I may be wrong.

Just for the record.....Yes, it was Gearhart. And no, John Hoke would never advertise something that he does not have. Nor does he take "pre orders" whatever those are :p

Basically, if it's on our price list, that means we HAVE it.

Just to get the record straight :)
