This is just so random but I am thinking of getting my 8th Tarantula but I only have a single enclosure left to accomodate one. 8th is my limit because I can't possibly attend to more than that with my busy schedule.

I am thinking if I should get a Chaco or a Red Knee since I still don't have both and they are very docile and common.

Very similar care needs. Pulchripes is usually more docile with less hair kicking. Also maybe a touch faster growing and ultimately larger.

Another vote for the G pulchripes. I love mine. It's an entertaining bulldozer, grows fast and very pleasing to look at.
I had a red knee and rehomed it.

I have no experience with that Brachypelma species or any other , but they are on my wish list. Having said that….

G. Pulchripes for the win!

Mine was my first T and my favorite. Bulldozer redecorator, she is special.

If she senses me putting water in her dish she will run over and sit in it to completely to stop me. She used to just try and fight the water in the air. I put a larger flatter dish in there and she placed a light layer of substrate inside and sits in it from time to time almost like she is defying me.

I have a B. hamorii juvenile, and it's pretty quick to kick hairs and isn't a consistent eater. It burrowed and sealed itself off several weeks ago but isn't showing the more obvious signs of premolt. It just seems to want to be alone.

It was a tossup between the B. hamorii and a G. pulchripes for me, and I kind of wish I'd have gone with the pulchripes. I don't regret the hamorii, but I've heard so many good things about G. pulchripes, mainly that they are often out when they're not molting, like to move things around and do stuff, and usually have strong, consistent appetites. If I decide to add more, G. pulchripes will definitely be at the top of the list.

Both are good options, so go with the one you really want after careful consideration. That's the right answer really.

The pulchripes has a larger potential size and grows quicker than hamorii, though still not quick as said above. Whether they're docile or not will depend entirely upon the individual spider... Brachypelma can indeed be quick to pull the trigger when it comes to hairkicking. Personally I prefer the hamorii between the two by far when it comes to looks, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the pulchripes is still very pretty. My hamorii is also one of my best eating spiders, is out all the time and makes a wonderful display spider, though a pulchripes does too. You really can't go wrong with either.

Which red knee?

Jokes aside, you can't go wrong here. Grammostola pulchripes are very entertaining and gorgeous. Brachypelma species and Tliltocatl species are also very nice spiders to look at. Honestly I'm leaning towards G pulchripes but only because I already have a T kahlenbergi.

Pulchripes is a more consistent eater, faster grower (especially up to 3"), is more active, gets bigger and tends to flick less hairs...otherwise both are good display tarantulas. Nothing wrong with either, but I am partial to that gold knee.

Two of my favorite new world terrestrials. Asking me to pick a favorite is impossible. Maybe give away one of your other 7 Ts so that you can get both.

Well, both of them are gorgeous that's for sure. Indeed unable to decide which one is prettier since all of them are. For sure as mentioned above G. pulchripes grows very fast , I've been having success of females growing from 1.5" to 3.5-4" in a year time so I'd say that is a pretty good growth rate, later on it gets a bit slower.

On the other hand I've started a mission to grow out a female B. smithi sling from instar. I can really say that it has been really slow , I might've overestimated my lifespan. But the achievment of confirming one of my B. smithi being a female after her 2 year life span is amazing. Since she just became close to 1.5". - That being said , I can not wait for it to grow to an adult stage and show it to my grandkids. (I don't even have kids yet) :p

I'd personally take them both, since the biggest regret is when you have to decide between 2 tarantulas and then you are sad because you'd like to have the other one as well. If you take them as slings I'll tell you that in 2 years time B. smithi / hamorii won't have to change her enclosure yet. So you are good to go and don't have to worry about space. And when she'll grow about 4-5" in a 6-7 years you'll have the space for her :3

Best regards,
Don

PS. I know my answere will get you to pick up both.
