Chaco golden-knee/mexican red-leg

Anyone with experience with the Chaco gold-knee (Gramostola Pulchripes). I recently purchased the Chaco and she seems to be a bit skittish, I was told that this one was the most docile tarantula. She hasn't tried to bit but she can be somewhat quick. Does the temperment ever change with time or conditions. I was also told by the petstore that the Mexican Red-leg(Bracypelma emilia) was an extremely docile tarantula, they have ordered me one... pricy $200 (3"), were they right or just trying to make a buck. I had a mexican red-knee (B. Smithi) for years, handled her for years with no issue, now that was 20 years ago. If you could please advise.

All of them, even the most docile, can be quick. Even within a species, individuals will have different reactions to stimuli. I've also noticed with my own tarantulas that where they are in their molt cycle can have a bearing on how they react to various things from one day/week/month to the next.

B. emilias are considered docile as a rule, but can also be a bit flighty, and hair flickers. They are definitely gorgeous Ts!

$200 for a single 3" B. emilia? Yep, that is pretty pricey. Maybe some of the Canadians will chime in with the best places to get tarantulas in Canada. Sounds like the pet store is using a heavy handed mark up.

in regards to the molt cycle you mentioned... when I purchased it about a month ago it had just finished a molt, so maybe that could have something to do with it??

i have NO CLUE what prices are like canada, however i can tell ya theyre making alot more than a quick buck

Really helpful, answered all my questions fast and I had a lot of questions!
I payed 45$ for a 1.5" B. emelia (almost the same thing as a B. smithi to my understanding).
Even with the shipping I got mine for half what your LPS wants.

I have a lead on a 4-5" Pink Zebra beauty (Eupalaestrus campestratus) female. So what do you think think? B. emilia or E. campestratus... I`ve heard the PZB is an extremely docile species. Are their temperments comparable. placing my order tomorrow, hopefully I can get some replies by then. thanks

only pzbs ive owned are all slings... docile yet skittish... same with MOST nw slings ... once theyre bigger im sure theyd be awesome..
