I found this piece of wood in my firewood pile and was thinking of using it for a large arboreal. Maybe placing it in a corner or something. I have zero idea what kind of wood this is. Are there certain woods that cannot or should not be used with tarantula's?

Small question, vast problem. Depends on the age of the wood. Long time dead and dried, just about any is safe. But sap presence, all conifers are out, all woods that have juglone, oleander, camphor, eucalyptus and on and on. Some simple irritants on out to deadly insecticides. Producing insecticide is a common natural defense.
