I got a Ceratogyrus sp from the pet store today in trade for a Avicularia avicularia and I need your opinions as to which species this is. Here is a pic.

That is really pretty. I have been wondering if there were any colorful species of horned tarantulas. Are the Ceratogyrus species just like the Pterinochilus species, as in temperment and housing needs?

It's definitely not C. marshalli. In all probablilty, it's C. brachycephalus.
You can do a seach on Google to find a copy of Richard Gallon's revision of Ceratogyrus. It includes helpful drawings to enable one to distinguish between species.

I concur with C. brachycephalus. Nice! Looks WC but sturdy, not skinny.

Hmm, most horned baboons are kind of compact spiders, not usually exceeding 4-4.5" legspan. Andrew Smith's 'Baboon Spiders' book quotes the described male as being 53mm (body length). He also mentions they occur in acacia scrub and dry grasslands.

Yes, we're currently breeding H. maculata. Got a male and a couple of females (male lost a leg, but doesn't seem to slow him down much).
