WHAT CAN I DO TO CONVINCE THEMOoh, thank you! I’ve missed the LA Bug Fair the past 2 years I’ve wanted to go and will be in LA this weekend. Now just have to convince the person l am going with.
She likes spiders, but not a big “bug” person. We’ll be up there for a festival Saturday and a concert Sunday night, so we have the day on Sunday to fart around LA between hotels. Just not sure if she’ll be up to more heavily peopley experiences in between. I’m tryin! Would be cool to meet another great T aficionado and put a face to the name. Actually, that might help me convince her.. mwuhahahaha!! Don’t think I’d be able to get any T’s as they’d have to stay overnight in the hotel and who knows what the spray situation is like in there. Also moving soon, so no breeding projects atm.WHAT CAN I DO TO CONVINCE THEM
Are you looking for anything nearing breeding age...please let me know in case I can help![]()
I'm usually camping around expos because I enjoy it and it's cheap...I'm yet to stay in a hotel...Airbnbs Id rather just leave them in the car than risk a host losing their mind if spotted on a secret camera. Still in SD, Matt
I love camping, too. You can camp free on BLM land in SoCal. While I love backpacking for days in the wilderness, my friend’s version of camping is the trekking expositions she goes on with her in-laws where other people go ahead with your stiff and set it all up for you, so it’s ready when you get there. Also, it’s an old school goth music festival on Saturday we’re be at all day. While I’d rather be at the bug fair in the day, she went with me to the punk festival and held my stuff so I could get in the pits, so it’s my turn to hold stuff. That said, weather will be temperate and while I'll be equipped with heat pads, I don't anticipate needing them. Maybe I put the specimens into a larger, sealed chamber to utilize air as an insulator. What I will do at the hotel if I'm forced to keep them inside for some reason. I also bring phase22 packs for extreme weather...over 100 or under 50. I think they keep it around 78F? We usually travel with a cooler and frozen ice bottles...Really no different than how they are shipped.
I don't carry a purse but if I am it's because I couldn't find parking in the shade
The craziest length I've gone to was bringing my portable Hotspot and wireless hygrometer (it has temperature alerts) while I went to the zoo mid summer. I don't mess around with the heat.
I'll DM you my number. I'm getting off work hopefully by 7am Saturday and heading straight there....so hopefully by 2pm until close. We are staying in Topanga that night and San Clemente Sunday night with nothing planned in between except hitting the parts of the fair I might not have had time to see on Saturday. And now that I'm officially a card toting member lol if I have time to kill I'll probably pop over to the LA Brea tar pits because they are right across the sidewalk from the museum and amazing. In case that would interest her...
And then a casual mosey back to Phoenix on Monday.
I would love to meet up with my AB family![]()
So how was Cruel World? First year I didn't go. Wanted to see Nick Cave but that was about it on the billI love camping, too. You can camp free on BLM land in SoCal. You have some well thought out plans for still being able to get T’s when away from home! I especially like the enclosed environment to keep at the hotel! I would be too worried about them if I left them in the car. I’d probably end up sleeping in the car with them, lol. I laugh, but it’s true. I’ve only had a T shipped once. I usually just go to fairs/expos, pick them out and bring them home.
I’ve never been the the Brea Tar Pits, but that could be another thing to try. Or as she says, “Porque no los dos?” She might kill me though as it’s gone from her asking me to go to the festival to me saying, ..and how about this and this and this while we’re there?
Me, too and he put on a great show. Too short though. So how was Cruel World? First year I didn't go. Wanted to see Nick Cave but that was about it on the bill

Heard the show was difficult with the bug fair the same weekend? but you and Chad had to be about the only Buggers there so may have kicked butt.Me, too and he put on a great show. Too short though.
We didn’t go until around 4:30. She Wants Revenge was much better than I was expecting, Devo was fun, couple songs from Madness I knew. Not sure if you know Nils Frahm, but we saw him in DTLA next night. Completely amazing.
Met the awesomeness that is @fcat and bought another spider. How did your convention go? We missed you at Bug Fair.
It all fit perfectly for me. Festival Saturday, Bug Fair Sunday daytime and concert Sunday night. Even if I’d been diehard to do the Bug Fair Saturday first thing, the good bands (ducks) were on later in the afternoon/evening.Heard the show was difficult with the bug fair the same weekend? but you and Chad had to be about the only Buggers there so may have kicked butt.
Missed ya at the bug fair but I am sure our paths will cross again soon Matt. Ya, there was a ton of AB folk it was great to see apart from those mentioned already Jenn Rose, Michelle Mark, Chris NG, Brian W, Chonda, and more I am sure I am missing. Always a great AB reunion @ the bug fair.
Sorry, that first part was for Matt yet I know I quoted you and him so confusing a bit. To him I was saying with there being another show I heard the Central Valley show was slow but was asking him how he and Chad did as they were probably one of the only bug vendors. But certainly glad it all worked out with your 2 showsIt all fit perfectly for me. Festival Saturday, Bug Fair Sunday daytime and concert Sunday night. It was great seeing you, too Joe! And I found that book.My friend said she didn’t understand most of what we were talking about, but had fun. I mentioned a spider being a pet hole and she laughed and said, “So this extends to your spiders now, too?” I explained to her what pet hole meant and she said, “Oh, well you called my cat a cathole.” That’s different.
