From what I've read pedelings are kept about the same as adults. A little more moist though.
I have banned myself from buying pedelings because I'm unfortunately 0-3 on keeping them alive. They would seem just fine and eating well then the next day be dead. Idk what caused the deaths but I'm not getting anymore.
On the other hand I kept a 7" heros castenicips(sp?) alive for a year before it's tank got busted and it escaped. I still have my H. marginata and she's doing great. It may cost more for the larger pedes but at least they're easier to keep alive.
I just had my S. subpinipes die unexpectedly after having it for 2 years.... so I was going to try some pedelings hoping to get longer life from them.
What do you keep them in. I was thinking a 32 oz 4.5in deli cup with an aluminum mesh insect lid. They are about 5.25in tall if i remember right with an inch of coconut husk there wouldnt really be any escape.
Immatures do okay but make sure you get some that have molted a few times. Die-off is usually on the second instars (just left the mother) and that's commonly the size being sold.
I kept mine in cleaned out plastic mayo jars with ventilation holes melted in them. I used the Eco Earth and kept it moist, not wet, and had a rock for them to burrow under. All three I had were in the 2nd-3rd instar.
My escape was due to a glass tank being moved by someone else and then knocked over and busted by the cat. All while I wasn't home. I wanted to shoot the person and cat.
Personally I'm gonna go with pedes close to 3" and up just to make sure they've got a good chance and, like E&T said, had a few molts.
