I've been in the hobby for quite some time now and have been bitten by hundreds of centipedes. I did not notice any pain scale already up on arachnoboards so I thought, why not make one. now of course this is my personal experience and others may react differently to them. and also feel free to share your experiences too:)

the scale will be out of 30, 1/30 being almost nothing and 30/30 being I wish I was dead and medical attention was required.

S. polymorpha (LA basin) - 5/30 mild stinging sensation

S. polymorpha (miller peak) - 7/30 definitely packed a punch and stung for some hours

S. heros arizonensis - 9/30 it hurt pretty bad but was not what I expected

E. rubripes (Australia) - 10/30 it hurt a good amount but it was gone really quick leaving a very swollen hand.

S. heros castaneiceps - 13/30 it was my first real bite and it packed a violent punch

S. subspinipes - 15/30 it was not fun and definitely deserves it's brutal reputation

E. rubripes platycephalus - 16/30 very similar to the heros castaneiceps but much more intense

E. rubripes rubripes - 18/30 at the time it was what I thought was the worst pain you could ever experience

S. heros arizonensis (madrean banded) : special case, on the face - 19/30 this one emptied everything he had in me and brought me to my knees for several hours

S. dehaani (cherry red) - 21/30 obviously this one hurt and to no surprise

S. Hardwickei - 25/30 it basically felt like your hand was in boiling oil and being slowly cut of at the same time

E. rubripes spinosus - 30/30 I spent the whole night in urgent care, not even 4 advil and heavy pain meds could lower the pain. this pede is basically the worst

Thanks for sharing! :)

It would be most beneficial for anyone that has experienced any bites, if you could please post in the bite reports section here:

Here is a tutorial on how to post a bite report: https://arachnoboards.com/threads/post-a-breeding-bite-or-sting-report-updated-4-1-2020.326768/

If you do not see a report for a species you wish to post about, you can request that one be created here: https://arachnoboards.com/threads/requests-for-breeding-bite-sting-report-items.326779/

Thanks!
