Hey guys! long time no see I guess. umm well you guys remember how I found a queen ant at the start of the summer? It had already laid eggs within the second week. They hatched and turned into larvae. Now currently are still in that test tube. The first worker already came out. It's a minor worker. What I call the "grunt" aka "forager". The queen has not ate anything since the start of summer till well. When I saw the first worker come out. TODAY as in RIGHT now as we speak the other worker is comming outof this egg shell thingy and only a little bit is left. So now I should have about two workers, and 5 pupae. As for eggs/larvae I'm not sure. There were alot of eggs before like 10 or so but I did a test tube change since the thingy was covered with mould(black) and it was like that for a long time I decided to change. I put the starting colony into a newly sterelyzed tube. It was being boiled for 20mins.
Anywho. I'm not sure how long itll take for more eggs/workers to come on. I was thinking of starting to construct the formicarium.
Here's the tricky part:
I want to make a custom built tank to have these qualities:
1)Extremely strong glass or plexiglass(no scratches so I think ill go with glass that is atleast 1-2inch deep-- i'm paranoid)
2)I want to put in the plaster mold idea like this in the tank:

3)I want to incorporate on the lip and top of the vivarium a type of surface that they will not be able to climb upon without needing to use fluon. Which I can't seem to find anything like that.
4)I want an extremely tight fitting lid and completely a 100% escape proof no matter what! But provides adequate ventilation(I was thinking of putting 4 large areas that will have a hole that's big and I would be able to put in the some cotton or something like that--- think of the test tube idea)
5)Easily portable and instead of being to the top with sand or dirt. I want to make a glass thingy so that the pladter mold goes directly into the tank and can't move and no matter what they won't be able to use a certain area of the tank and it'll have a foraging area with a small layer of LIGHT colored substrate
kinda like this:

I want to make the plaster mold proof. I figured I'd put in some ventilation tunnels that reach the bottom chambers of the plaster. You know? and I could use a type of stone that's good against mold? or maybe put a coat of paint t hat has mold killers? idk.
I'm not sure how m any ants this colony will produce. But I'm hoping I could keep the colony throughout its life in a tank that's like 1.5ft long x 1.5ftwide x 1.5ft tall.
Or a 1 foot long x 1.5wide x 2.5ft tall
if needed be. I rather use height and width over length though. But I don't want it to be too short. Get it? It needs to fit on my desk and not be overly heavy cause if I ever move out I want to be able to bring it with me without any damage to the colony or the tank or whatever. I want it to be held in place(the plaster) without any shaking even if I move the tank. Which I probably wont for like 2years maybe. But yeah. Help please.
BTW my parents are paranoid about them escaping that's why I'm trying to make sure it's fool proof.
