Hey, I recently bought a Caribena versicolor and as far as I'm aware have done my research for how it's conditions should be, made sure it has cross ventilation, basic humidity, and multiple things to climb up.

The main issue I'm having is that it has yet to eat since I've had it (3 days) and I'm wondering if that's normal since the abdomen looks shrunken slightly. I have tried pre killing small calci worms. (pictures below)

It is roughly 1cm.

I can’t see it very well, but T’s often take a bit to settle in. I usually house and then leave them alone for a week before trying to feed them. Just make sure they have water. Avics (& Caribena) generally like more leaves at the top to create their web tunnels in. There’s a great post by Viper below for Avic care.

And a great example of an Avic sling enclosure by Smotzer

Also, abdomen may be small if it recently molted.

Thanks for the advice! I added a strain of leaves across the top and side of the enclosure, I've decided to not try feed him for the rest of the weekend to see how it goes. Thank you for the advice.

With avic types, since they live up high and molt inside web tubes, its also perfectly safe to just drop in a cricket and forget about it and let the t hunt.

Sadly, I only have calci worms, should I try broadening the type of prey I buy?

yes, avic types will eat worms, but you will get a much better feeding response from crickets or red runners. It can be hard to feed worms, as they almost need to be placed right on its web tube in a manner in which it wont fall before the t finds it.

Mine enjoy a good cricket hunt. Appropriately sized, of course. :)
Mine even enjoy an inappropriately sized cricket hunt 😅

Fresh jumpy crickets are great, they'll climb around and stick their antenna into webbing or even touch those floofy back-leg setae. Gets a great response 😁

From the one image I could view that sure doesn’t look like a versi. Maybe it’s bad lighting?

Yeah I apologise for the horrible lighting and angle it was a very rushed picture, thankfully the issue I had though has now gone thanks to those who replied since for some reason the spider wouldn't eat calci worms but randomly just started eating crickets a few minutes ago, I assume It was stress or maybe something I did, regardless sorry for the rant yes it is a versicolor lol and thank you for those who helped with the advice!
