We believe its a male, he was really cool to handle and he just calmly walked up my arm, turned around and walked back down and into the tank :)

alltho I have to say, that not all versicolors are this docile and I usualy advise my friends not to handle T's, but on this occasion I had judged how flighty he was before I did it.

She can be feisty too. Seems like every time she is out she bites me.

So pretty! I really like the plant you chose to photograph on. My versicolor wont stay still long enough for me to get many good shots like yours! :)

I had to be quick with the shots because she didn't stay still either. It takes patience and the ability to snap a shot really quick. The flower is something related to a lily that grows out of lava rocks. My dad sent it to my mom for a present (rather expensive flower but the guy buys her spiders that cost over $300 and lets her have all the arachnids she wants so no surprise there lol) and she immediately thought of having one of the Avics out on it for a nice picture. My mom's versicolor Bonnie being a mature female would probably be too big to walk on it and it is not a large flower. So it was either my versicolor Ila or the mature male Avic avic Ditto. As for the camera, it is a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. I am just so proud of this little spider even though she bites me all the time. I don't really handle her but sometimes she takes a stroll on my hand when I am feeding her and she just decides to nip me I guess. I love her anyway. (assuming female at this point)

I just got my first Tarantula so I wanted to show it off. It is a baby Versicolor. I have a feeling it will not be my last Tarantula.:D

Very pretty. My little versi is not that little any more. Give it around another inch and it'll show the adult colors all in one molt. It's a real nice suprise. Congrats.
