Caribena laeta used to be avicularia laeta, but was reclassified into the genus Caribena.

Avicularia and Caribena aren't the same thing but they're closely related.

I mean the person also talked about having proper cross ventilation because they said that one of their tarantulas died from having no ventilation. Well thanks for the info anyways
Well if it’s misting for humidity then you definitely don’t want to do that, if it’s for them to drink water, you can instead just drop water on their web. I have also seen all of my caribena and avics use their water bowls.

yeah i was just reading online but i know not all of the guides of correct information. One guide that seemed trustworthy since they said they actually talked to other people and have one of their own said that they mist the enclosure every 3-4 days.
If you're getting a sling then house in a 32oz deli set up like below, for ventilation do a row of holes all around just above sub level, the same about an inch from the top, a few holes at mid-height, and about a dozen in the lid.

Avicularinae sling setup.jpg

Aviculariinae should be kept mostly dry, I overflow the water dish to moisten about 1/4 of the sub and repeat when it dries out fully, I don't bother with misting (it's inefficient and annoys tarantulas), some people spritz the webbing once a week or something like that to provide extra drinking opportunities but it's never been something I've felt the need to do, I've never owned an Avic that wouldn't use its water dish (I regularly spot them drinking prior to moulting and I've seen a few come down to drink while still teneral after moulting).

just one last question.... are avicularia and caribena the same thing
Different genera since the revision a few years back but they're in the same subfamily (Aviculariinae).

So i got my caribena laeta sling. It is decently small but aren't they suppose to web up the top of their enclosure at least a little bit? I am getting no web so it is troublesome to feed her... and by that i mean she has not ate yet. She stays near or on the lid most of the time so does that mean i need a taller enclosure for it to feel secure? I got it June 2 so maybe it is just not used to it yet but some advice would be nice.

A pic of the setup would help but Aviculariinae generally only construct web tubes when they're close to moulting. As you said, it's not even been a full week so give it time, for slings that have yet to web I usually just dangle a pre-killed feeder by one of its legs in front of the sling and they usually take them.

currently it is a bit jumpy which is expected of a arboreal but the enclosure is pretty much the same size as the one you showed in that picture. Just the cork bark i sued to wider and i have less fake leaves although they are pretty big.

can you feed a piece meal worm to the caribena laeta? I tried placing pieces of meal worm on top of the cork bark to see if it would find it but it has yet to pick it up. I am hoping it is just in premolt because it has now be hanging out on the backside of the cork bark near the wall of the enclosure and webbed it up a little bit.

Yes, I used to. It's what I fed my spiderlings from my female's egg sack

When I got one of my caribena slings it did not web up really at all until after it molted for the first time in its enclosure.

I don’t have experience with them but Y. diversipes is at or near the top of my most wanted list now. It’s stunning from sling to adult and IMO is prettier than an adult Versicolor

A lot of these species, and especially some of the less common Avics, can be so hard to find sometimes and it's a bummer. I personally prefer tarantulas with more of a 'subtle' beauty to them, although they're all gorgeous.

Where I live, I see M6 everywhere in pet shops, but as for other Avics, not so much except maybe at a few reptile shows. It seems like if you want anything more out of the ordinary in that genus, you have to look online.

I know this is an old thread but was hoping a member/s have any photos of adult Ybyrapora sooretama.

Thanks in advance.

Bumping this thread for attention. Anyone have adults? I'm specifically interested in the ybyrapora genus, hoping to hear from people that have kept them. General info on visibility, expected lifespan, adult looks- (I've seen tons of sling pics and not many adult pics), etc. Thanks!
