Can anyone identify this spider?

My roommate thinks it's a black widow, and honestly I'm not sure. From all the pictures I've looked up I can't tell, if it is it would have been a male sling. Can anyone decide? Best pics I could get. Thanks.

No, doesn't look like a 'black widow' at all to me. I think is one the average harmless spiders I fail always to ID quickly :-s

Could be Aumorobius ferox but it's hard to say. It pretty much looks like a black spot with legs. Definitely not a Latrodectus though

The picture isn't terribly clear, but it looks to me like it might be one of the Steatoda (some of which are commonly known as "False Widows.) See, for example, Steatoda triangulosa or a close relative.
