Cambodian A-ping (Edible Tarantula)

If you didn't know some areas of Cambodia eat tarantulas. Wikipedia just has the species name listed as a-ping, the local name for the T.
I was curious if anyone knew what species it is that they eat, thanks!

I'd say it would be one or more species from the Haplopelma genus.

It's generally H.longipes that are eaten.

If only those cambodians know how much a full grown female costs in the states for haplopelma species. Scmidti for 200 easy , hainanum 140, longipes 80 easy. They wouldnt eat them. One mans <edit> is another mans gold

^ Thankfully they dont know how much they cost over here. Otherwise overing 'hunting' would put those species on the CITES list
