They've been trying to pass this bill or others like it for the last 20 yrs it didn't pass then and it probably most likely wont pass now.it would put to many pet stores, suppliers, and breeders out of business.it was formed by crazy animal activist that nobody really cares about anyway's...if they want to pass a bill regarding exotic non natives species. lets pass one against the idiots who introduce them into the wild, and allow us responsible keepers to enjoy our collections.

Most states already have laws on the books to prohibit releasing non-native wildlife, or abandoning domesticated animals. And, while few of us support these Animal Rights groups, we darn sure BETTER care about them, since they are our sworn enemies and will stop at nothing! They are extremely well-funded, especially the very-dangerous HSUS, and have many of the current crop of politicians and office holders in their pockets. Complacency-the belief that this bill or others like it won't get anywhere-is their strongest ally and our downfall. Never, ever undestimate these people or the lengths they will go to in order to achieve their goal of an animal-free society. They have all the religious fervor of radical zealots of any belief system. I recall a quote from one of my favorite fictional book characters, "Ford Prefect", from the Douglas Adams novel, "Life, the Universe, and Everything": "They care; we don't. Therefore they win, and we lose."

yes this is true.90% of states do have these laws but the penalty is a slap on the wrist and and them telling you how bad it is to do what you did...where i live a few years back some guy let loose a 3ft caiman into a small lake where kids congregate and play....you know what he got ...a slap on the wrist and a $5000 fine.they should have locked his a$$ up and threw away the key..it's people like that who give the responsible keepers a bad wrap and cause the bills like this one.

My town has a "no constrictor" law as far as pet snakes are concerned . This makes it illegal to own any snake that kills by constriction . It was meant to prevent the sale of large pythons and boas , but it unintentionally makes many many other types of snakes illegal . It is enforced about as often as the " no horses in the court house " law . Laws like this are stupid and time wasting . Doesn't our government have anything better to do with it's time ?
