It's all good, the time lapse was interesting as both of mine are more or less diurnal pet rocks haha!

Very awesome video - I actually just got an H. gigas as a freebie today, so this is funny timing lol. Definitely giving me some ideas for future setups when little Gigabyte isn't so little.

Very fun to watch although i was like 'grab the fish grab the fish, oh yes, he's got it, oh, no he doesn't darn it'. Intro was a bit long, used to instant YouTube gratification as i am :smug:

Hey @Phases , so you are going to be putting another minnow in the tank? Have you thought about ghost shrimp? Or something similar? I was just wondering if you've had a chance to try different prey items. I was thinking a shrimp might leave a slightly less rancid bolus lol.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing!

As for people being disrespectful, it is a problem on these boards. I guess people think their experience gives them a pass on common courtesy. Fortunately, this is such a great resource that you can block those who just like to whine or be rude, and you still have an amazing number of very knowledgeable people who are actually nice. To be fair, any big group will have its share of malcontents.

Awesome video man. I definitely have to get one or two of these next time I order T's, and I'm definitely gonna have to set up something like yours when they're big enough. I was wondering how the water for the fish is set up exactly? I don't know much about minnows but don't fish normally have to have cured water? Or is it just tap water/distilled and the fish is just put in for prey for the spider? How long did it take for the spider to start hunting in the water?

Thanks for the footage dude. So cool to see. Hope you can catch him in the act again but with better lighting and maybe a different angle.

Thats a pretty cool video. I never knew tarantulas would hunt fish. As for your T getting use to your filming, I think tarantulas can get use to their keepers bumping around. It seems like they are just able to adapt to the commotion, after all if T's couldnt adapt then they would have gone extinct.

Thanks for sharing this! What an incredible showing of hunting behavior like I've never seen. I'd also be interested in seeing what kind of variety of aquatic prey they'll go after, or if they're the only ts that'll hunt like that actively. Funny how such a cool revalation opens up so many more questions :)

Yeah, but they're not so good about sharing!
"Hey you, eight legged Caiaphas, give me that fish and those crickets so I will multiplicate those for poor eight legged, straight from my Tiberiade lake-swimming pool-enclosure located in a U.S office!"

"Munch, munch... Burp! Sorry :hungry:"

Eight legged Caiaphas: :banghead:

Wow thanks everyone for the replies! I'm getting more on the youtube video too than usual. I should have done this one sooner ;) Let's see...

Oh surely. Like I said this is his 5th, he likes them, they're free, so hey why not. (We have a koi pond that has plenty of fish). I've not noticed any problems with bolus' but, this IS the biggest one he's taken on so we'll see! I have not tried other stuff besides crickets, dubias, mealworms, and minnows. He likes them all!

As he gets bigger I'm sure I'll move up to small brim or whatever for his fish portion.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing!

I've not messed with that and should. I am thinkin of opening a board though that operates sorta like insta. Can block people from even seeing your content, etc. I think it might work well.

Thank you! Well, I just use regular bottled water, adn add to it every week as it gets low. As he uses it and dirt goes in and I pull stuff out, it becomes more 'natural' i would guess. Minnows last weeks in there. The first four I put in at once. It took him several weeks to get them all. Course like I mentioned he and they were smaller so the whole body of water, comparatively, was bigger for them. I'm sure a harder challenge but no fish died. You just have to acclimate temp differences like you would when you buy a new fish to bring home, you know.. cuz my pond is really cold right now and cain stays around 77-82.

What a cool video! I really like the setup you made and would love to see more videos of Cain. Thanks for sharing.
I have several on the youtube channel of him and no doubt will do more. His tunnel systems are awesome! Thank you for the comment :)

Thank you! I will ;)
