Found this under a peace of wood and was wondering what it could potentially be IMG_20170511_172306243.jpg

It's probably going to be one of what people call "wooly bear caterpillar" cocoons, may be Hypercompe scibonia or some other one.

Does look similar to an arctiid pupa but doesn't seem to be elongated enough to be a H. scribonia. Also, that container lid looks like it belongs to one of those small cups around 2.5 inches across, in which case it's way too small to be H. scribonia or any of the other large "woolly bears."
