How odd.

So question is. If you have an uncooperative pair...what do you do?

a) Hold onto male and continue attempting a mating until you get success or male gets eaten.

b) assume someone else may have better luck and send male on.

I am guilty of murdering a male(actually by moving him closer to the female) that someone else also wanted.

i was very concerned about his safety, given the skiddishness of the species and the general rarity of males. when the male showed no interest in either female (and vice versa), i felt it was a better bet to send him off to meet other ladies, rather than waste precious time trying to make my pairings work. i hope that when he comes back (if he makes it back), he'll be more interested in my girls. i also have a third female who has molted, and he may take to her.

bottom line: if it's not working, look for another pairing. you can always try again later.

This may not work, since you said they were spazzed but I've noticed that sometimes they just dont realize the other one is there. Whats worked with me a few times, is if you pick him up like you would sex him and gently brush his legs against your females legs (make sure to be ready if she decides to freak). Most of the time the male will start drumming the second I put him down.

last night he got munched by his first lady. :(

hopefully something will come of it. i can't say i'm not disappointed, since he had at least 2 more girls to go to and i was hoping to give him another shot with my girls. but i know these things happen.

hopefully he successfully bred to the girl and we end up with a sac of CB lamanai.
