Hey all! i'm new here, browsed googled and this forum came up, so i signed up :) yeah. i have just one scorpion and its a Buthus occitanus named mitch (mitchel) i've had him since he was a baby and he's now a full grown adult at least i think so since he's almost 9cm big, i caught him in the wild. i haven't got any pictures of him yet. but will get some soon. if anyone has any tips bout keeping B. occitanus i'd appreciate it. i'm also gettin a new viv for mitch, a nice big glass one... about the substrate. before i have used earth from where i found him. but in the new viv, i planned on buying some desert sand... that a god idea? like i said, any advice would be grateful im looking at getting another scorpion. preferibaly a desert, since its real hot over here. i love the Israeli gold scorpion. any other suggestions.
cheers!:)

where did you cought your Buthus? Portugal i guess? If so, it would be Buthus ibericus. I've a key for Buthus ibericus: movable finger of pedipalps with basal lobe in male and female;)

Hi,
You're welcome.
I keep also Buthus ibericus from Portugal, Moimenta da beira which is around the 7-8cm too. Size means nothing..;)

Buthus ibericus is easy to seperate from B.occitanus. Buthus ibericus has a basal lobe(a little curve) in the movable finger of pedipalps in the male and female.
