Broken fangs on female L. klugi

Hi everybody. I know that there's not really much to do about this, but I was pretty upset to see the other day that my sub-adult female Lasiodora klugi was weirdly "mouthing" a cricket, without the cricket become obviously punctured of mashed up. She eventually killed it, but spent a long time trying to eat it, and I scared her up the glass a bit to see her mouth after she dropped the food bolus some time later, and saw that both of her fangs were snapped off about halfway or more to the hilt. She's been super healthy and a great eater, and I am really worried about this. Recently she's been climbing to the ceiling, and she explores the screen top with her fangs; I think maybe she was doing that when she fell and they stayed in the screen. However, I couldn't find them and don't really know if it would make a difference if I did. She has no other signs of a fall, and still attacks crickets, its just that she can't really masticate. Has anybody else had this problem? Do you think that she can make it to the next molt? She is only about two months out of her last molt.

Anyway, thanks for any advice, commiseration, etc.

Best,
Mike

There is a poster I know who had this same problem and fed cricket mush to him - he kept him alive and he finally molted a week or so again and regained his fangs. I will make sure he sees this thread so he can give you advice. It doesn't have to be a death sentence for your T, it will just take a little more work to help him eat. I'll let him know.

Thanks for the advice and link. I'll try the cricket soup technique.

hey man I have a L. Parahybana that I kept alive for almost 3 months with no fangs here is what you need to do to keep it alive (it worked for me) keep the humidity up at a decent rate(not to much) make cricket soup no legs and try to use just the abdomen of the cricket 3 adult crickets should work and make sure it has another bowl of just straight water there abdomen should maintaint he size from the molt or a little bigger but it will take them longer to molt since they can't eat crickets on their own but if you follow these directions he should make it to the next molt. oh stress!!! DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO STRESS THE T!!!
