There's some learning along the way, some trial and error. It is well worth it the excitement of your first sac, feels much like winning the big game.
Good luck and have fun!

IMO, not a good way to pay off bills, as i have learned, experimenting with the idea. First of all, the money is never guaranteed, and would go up, never a set amount of cash flow comin in, unless you go big with it. Buying breeding stock of species that you will actually make money off will put you in debt by itself. You could breed some common species, but once you factor in costs (vials, substrate, feeders) you make what seems like next to nothing off of them. Factor in (for me anyways) not having much experience breeding, and you get a lot of losses (ie eaten MMs, eaten sacs, etc). I suppose as you go along and earn a bit here and there if you put it back into more stock, and rarer more sought after stuff, eventually you could make some decent pay. Either way, i think its basically a hobby that could be a small amount of side income if you are willing to put time, effort, and a lot of learning into it. Just don't expect to get rich :p. Hopefully you have good luck with it, and i hope things get better for you and your family.

Cheers

EDIT- Didnt notice the "Blondi or Pokies" part at the bottom. You might want to start with a species a little less complicated, it would suck if you went out and found MM and paid decent cash for them, and then lost them.

I think it's a good idea. Get out there and try to make a name for yourself, get yourself a good website and raise and sell off good quality T's. The thing is... it'll probably be a long time before you start making good money off it.

no i bred her myself. my mom suggested breeding to my dad because i got him into t's. she wants him to do it so that all the money he makes selling slings can go to bills+the love for the hobby

There are a lot of ways to cut down on spending and supplies to eventually clear some profit. But that is the wrong motivation to have in this hobby in my opinion.
It will be nice to have some extra money here and there from hit and miss breeding efforts, but when it is there it's not going to amount to huge amount. From what I see most people that try breeding for money reasons are usually the first ones to post their collection for sale to get out of bad debt. ( I said most not all! )

Extra spending money every now and then?………………..plausible.
Money to rely on for paying debt or bills?……………. Not freaking likely.

my parents both have good paying jobs
Can't be that great given the statement below. Ether that or there is some mismanaging of money occurring in your household.

Not trying to discourage you from trying, just letting you know that you’re a LONG, LONG ways from making any sort of money that would negate the expenses occurred from the care of the T’s.

Pretty hard to take it any other way given the title of your thread. And I am not offended. Just letting you know what you are up against. It can be done. Just takes time.

I wouldn't count on that for any money. All my breedings this year so far have resulted in three eaten sacs and one molt out. Even if you breed them, there is no guarantee you can sell them. Then it will be costing you money.

yeah i guess i worded it wrong, well let me start over. i was interested in breeding so i tried mating my obt with rob's male. im hoping it was successful. so my mom just suggested selling them if it was to be succesful, because i cant keep them all. we are in no way poor i guess she thought a lot more money came out of it than it actually does ha. next time ill have a better choice of words
