The female is ready as soon as she is big enough- usually about 2/3 to 3/4 of max size. So for rosies, I would wait until the females are at least 4in, but the bigger the better. Ideally, you also want to do it soon after the female molts to prevent her molting out of pregnancy. If you have a male thats ready now though, then you really have no choice but to go for it.How do you know if the female is ready. I have a mature male and a newly bought female. Both have been with me for about 3 weeks and I tried pairing today but the male got charged. I anticipate the female thought food, so I will feed her more before trying again. I don't know the time since the male matured but probably a few months at least. Any suggestions other than feeding the female heavily, introducing male to female and watching closely.
If she charged the male then she was either hungry, or just not in the mood. Feed her a nice big meal, then give it another go in a couple days.
