Hello! I have recently gotten two Anomalipus elephas that i currently don´t know the gender of. I´m trying to find information on both sexing and successful breeding of these species or information on similar south african darkling beetles. Does anyone have any experience or know any good sources?

I would recommend a sand and organic matter mix, keep one third of the substrate moist, the rest dry. Make sure the enclosure is well ventilated, and offer protein rich foods. With any luck the adults will produce offspring, and hopefully the larvae won't be too cannibalistic. If you have success, let us know, this is a dream genus of mine. :)

As far as pupation goes, I'd recommend looking at my caresheet here for the way I generally pupate desert Tenebrionids.

Thank you so very much for your reply and the link!
It's been quite hard to find good information on these but this is great. I would love to give you some individuals if I were to succeed but I live in Sweden so sadly it probably won't be possible. :(
