My B albiceps has been in premolt for nearly 5 months!! He was at a very steady pace as a sling molting atleast once every 2 months or so this is def the longest he’s ever been in premolt. I guess they really are a slow growing species.

Yep his abdomen is HUGE. Hard to believe he hasn’t had a meal in 5 months hasn’t changed at all lol he’s honestly my most chill spider I just wish he would molt soon hopefully he will with the warmer weather coming

We will continue this conversation once my Aphonopelma mooreae matures hopefully within next twenty years.
lol I’m hoping for you. It’s the worst when you know it could be anytime or it could be a wait

albiceps is, IME, the slowest growing Brachypelma.
Yeah that seems to be the consensus. He grew very quickly as a sling he Just got out of that stage not to long ago. This is his second molt as a juvy I believe and it’s taking forever. Hopefully it happens soon!

A tarantula abdomen will not get slimmer/smaller by not eating, regardless of how long it fasts....could even be years.

My B klaasi has been in premolt for around the same time. My fault for overfeeding her 🤷

This is why i need a fast growing tarantula in my coven. Athough i love my brachypelmas and grammastolas, i want to see a bit of change now and then.

almost pinning for a fast growing pet hole, even if i just see its legs.

to op, my brachypelmas and g pulchripes are all doing what yours did. They molted often in the small sling stages. Now they are on hold. Its normal. But the frequent molting was fun.

it has also been colder. I suspect when spring hits and summer warmth sets in, i might get one or two molts.
