Brachypelma smithi male abdomen too small?

Hi ,
i just got a couple Brachypelma Smithi ,
Female 14 cm and Male 12 cm leg span
but i notice that male abdomen too small even not mature yet.

Is this normal or something wrong?

If male is hooked out and has his male parts he is mature looks alright to me in pic

Males are generally more slender and smaller even before maturity than females ESP the abdomen.

Looks like a nice male keep on feeding him good I would think he is close to ultimate male good luck with the pairing

I'm sorry but this is a load of bollocks. sub adult males can be just as fat as females. Heck I have seen adult males fatter then females. Please don't use these "features" for sexing. Check for the presence of a bulbus at the end of the palp to see if a male is mature.

Hahah..I thought that was weird..the opis for fat! I can't speak for others, but when I mention fat, I don't mean actual adipose tissue, I simply mean a change in size from smaller to larger!

They look good. Just feed the male. He was just probably more recently through a molt and lost some weight from the endeavor. He should fatten up just fine after a few meals.

I'm fairly certain he was making a generalization, not saying all makes are more slender. And I know for a fact he wasn't implying you can sex a T by how slender/bulky it is.

Ok a bit of argument going in this thread lol, Males are more long legged then thair female counterparts, abdomen size can be varied for many reasons, the male is fully matured and doesn't want to eat over several months and has made a sperm web (endlessly looking for a female with no luck for a long time) i.e. smaller abdomen over time, but males can be just as fat as females especially when introduced to mating soon as possible (on feeding schedule), if hes not got hooks/bulbus pedipalps then he's not fully matured and not made a sperm web, until then don't introduce to the female, when he has then yes its a green light to introduce them.

Last night , I feed male and he eat 3 small cricket and 1 Male adult dubia..
