I had read that the coloration on the smithi was more orange, a little brighter down and less black on the knee and carapace (orange vs red), and there were slightly darker chevrons in the hamorii.My understanding is that B. hamorii have more vivid coloring (or red-orange as versus orange) than B. smithi.
I think the smithi is larger too but not by a ton but there really aren't a ton of differences. Honestly I personally don't think it matters much but if given the option that is a guaranteed spider sp. I'll take the smithi.
