They are one of the more skittish of the Brachy's. Mine does not kick a lot of hair but will bolt at the slightest movement. Its a good feeder and will readily eat whatever I put in front of her. I tried misting the enclosure but she seems to prefer it pretty dry, so I just leave a water dish and don't mist. Other than that they are pretty much like any other Brachy. Hope this helped.

Ive had 4 Bachypelma boehmei over the last year im down to one right now sold the others but they are one of my fav. things to know about this T. are:
1. they kick lots of hairs
2. great display T.
3. Ive never had one die on me they seem hardy
4. they are way fun to watch eat because they bob up and down and attack very fast.
5. they are in not slow Ts and are nervous so not the best to hold
I love their colors and they are very easy to care for. one of the first Ts I really wanted. if you have other question ask away

My 1/2" sling will readily take down prey larger than her. It makes for a great show! Very good eaters!

They are really beautiful T's! Hardy and relatively quick growers compared to some of the other Brachys. They are a little more prone to kick hairs, but a great T for your collection. I keep mine on dry substrate with a water dish.

i got a 2cm spiderling last week... been eating microcrickets... but they are outgrowing the sling!

its not impressive yet, just looks like an ordinary house spider... but with patience, i hope it grows beautifully!

my B.boehemi sling just molted this morning. True that they're kickers, even as a sling you can see them kicking a lot. hehehe considering they don't have that much hairs yet.

I'm also looking at buying a sub-adult. Honestly, i can't wait anymore.

While I don't have much experience, my juvi B. boehmei is a spastic little thing.

Anytime I scoot her container or do cage maintenence or even drop in a roach...she flicks up a little cloud of hairs and takes off running. Reminds me of little octopi and squids with their dust clouds.

I don't handle my T's anyway, and from adult pictures I've seen they're gorgeous spiders. So I'm eagerly waiting the day mine grows up and looks as pretty. So hopefully that compensates for the untouchable nature of this species. =D

Since i don't handle my ts. I don't see them kick that much. Since i also don't like seeing them with their bald spots. You think i'd still want to have a b.boehemi? does it really mean that they're most of the time bald in their opisthosomas (abdomen)?

well, since your asking.. i say you'd still want one. ;-)

mine is a feisty little one and likes to kick some hair, but still looks pristine. i don't handle mine just to do it either, but it's probably always good to keep in mind that you will be handling one at some point. hehe. definitely one of my favorites out of the 12 T's i have. hangs out in plain view most of the time, great looker, etc...

An easy way to prevent this is to keep your tongs away from the Tarantula .............
And by this I mean: stop tong feeding. Tarantulas are capable hunters
