Its that time of year again when you start to see cute little jumping spiders running around on all the walls and that had me wondering...
If you had to choose between a Bold jumper (Phidippus audax) or a Tan Jumping Spider (Platycryptus undatus) as a pet which one would you choose and why? I'd personally choose the P. undatus because of their markings and fluffy "mustaches" but I'm curious to see what your thoughts are between the two.

Bold they are larger, easier to feed and males have nice green or blue metallic sheen. Also they are easy to care for overall

A male Phidippus audax recently gave me a laugh which also biases my opinion. I was parked at a burger place when I noticed a male P. audax roaming in circles around my passenger side mirror. I got out and went over to get him off so that he would not go flying when I took off. Well, instead of being "afraid" of my hand and high tailing it he decided to jump ONTO my hand instead! I am sure I looked insane laughing to myself in the middle of a parking lot but I can just say I was on a Bluetooth phone if the authorities ever question it!
I relocated him to a nearby bush and so if I were the one to be making the choice I would go with Phidippus audax :)

I'd probably go with P. undatus. Large, nice markings, and very easy to keep. They're also a little more difficult to find, so that makes the searching part much more enjoyable.

I like both. They are big and easy to spot, but if I had a choice, I would probably go with P. audax. Both are cute little boogers! (Sorry the pic is of P. audax is on it's side.) :shy:

My P. Audax I just found today she was guarding a sac but her web was surrounded by widow sacs. Hoping she'll lay another for me before I release her.

EDIT: * sorry for the shitty phone pic will try and get a better shot when she is settled in

Both are cute and fun to observe but I'd probably go with p.undatus. I like their markings more and we have them in my area so I've had some experience with them. Curious little guys. I'd like to find a p.audax though, I've heard lots of great things about them.

I think I'd rather have an Audax of the two, but I just caught my second Undatus. Accidentally cooked the first one. Lesson learned. I was bummed because I almost never see them. Went out and caught another immediately though. I've also got a little Zebra. My yard is sort of infested with those guys though.
