Hi everyone, first post to this sub but have been reading it for awhile now. Nice, informative, and interesting community.

So, I want to get a tarantula. I have no intention of handling or interacting with it unless absolutly necessary (unboxing, rehousing, feeding etc). After watching a bunch of videos, Im more into the species that look really unique, unlike the normal black/brown new worlds.

The spider that actually caught my attention was a Blue Quezon Earth Tiger. I actually bought the spider without doing much information and honestly didn't know it was an Old world

How screwed would I be, having no tarantula or reptile experience at all, getting this species? Is it doable? I dont want a rose hair or whatever new world tarantula. I want something that is cool to look at.

Terrible idea to buy one just for its looks with no experience you could had asked and got a beginner species . Now you gotta deal with its speed and defensiveness.

I have the spider in my room right now. Do you know if it would be difficult to rehouse the blue tiger from its enclosure it came in? It came in a plastic container with a cork log and the substrate. It currently is in the cork and boarded off both sides of the entrances so nothing can get in or out.

Depends on the individual and the methods used....It's going to be EXCEEDINGLY fast and potentially defensive and It's critical for you to remain steady and calm....without experience, It's hard not to flinch in the face of such a fast moving tarantula, especially one that could wreck you're week with a bite.

FWIW, not all NWs are boring black or brown.....there are a lot of them that are quite spectacular looking.

I am seeing that using the a cup and cardboard method is rather popular. Also, this what the enclosure looks like right now that it came in. The spider is under the long image.jpg

Well i wanted to rehouse to a little bigger enclosure that is specifically made for spiders. Also, the enclosure its in right now is plastic but does have holes and stuff. Would you recommend changing the enclosure?

How large is it?

You're not screwed.

Get a few pictures of it's enclosure from the side and we can help you a bit more.

Asian fossorials are defensive, but after some rehouses you can start reading their movements.
