Is it necessary/important to eventually introduce another bloodline to an existing colony?

People have colonies 1,000s deep and using one blood line. I personally have 3 blood lines in my colony. I do believe insects have far less defects from inbreeding though

I think it takes hundreds if not thousands of generations to get that degeneration within the gene pool.

You don't have much to worry about if you're just feeding them IMO. I don't think the genes can be passed on to the Tarantula or any other creature eating them.

Besides-I would be willing to bet that all Blaptica dubia in the US are very closely related and probably came from a very small group brought in.
